A series of four classes for the beginning and aspiring herbalist. This series will offer the basics of Western Herbalism as it has evolved throughout history and it's current uses that can be applied to simple family self treatment or as the basis for long term herbal practice and study. This series will be great for the lay person who just wants to improve their overall health with the use of herbs or for the anyone who thinks they may want to pursue becoming an herbal practitioner.
Students will learn:
- Plant identification and modern and historic uses
- Basic botany
- An understanding of Traditional Western Herbalism and diagnosis
- Conservation, Ethics, Sustainability

April 30th
- Spring Plant Walk and identification including native species
- Nettles gathering and Nettles Soup Making
- Introduction to Western Herbalism-History, definitions and terms
- Language of the Plants-Doctrine of Signatures
June 11th
- Plant walk and identification with an intro to basic botany
- Ethical Harvesting
- Energetics of Herbs-tastes and impressions and their indications for illness
- Tongue, facial and body diagnosis
July 23th
- High Summer Plant walk and identification
- Summer remedies
- Plant meditation
- Introduction to tissue states of the body
September 17th
- Fall plant walk and identification
- Remedies for the upcoming Winter
- Introduction to other medicine traditions-Chinese 5-element and Ayurveda
Each class is $50 or register for all four classes for $175
Class will run from 10am to 5pm
